Scripture Engagement for Daily Life

By Dr. Philip Collins and Katelyn Rodman

This is a non-technical workshop.  Ask many Christians what they believe is the best way to grow as a Christian, and the most common answer is “Pray and read the Bible.”  Scripture Engagement is a way of hearing and reading the Bible with an awareness that it is within the Scriptures that we primarily meet God. It is marinating, mulling over, reflecting, dwelling on, and pondering Scripture, resulting in a “transformative engagement” with God (see https://www.biblegateway.com/resources/scripture-engagement/ for more info).  Scripture Engagement is the process of slowing down and being a Psalm 1 Christian, a person that meditates on the Law of the Lord, Scripture, day and night.  During the day-long interactive workshop, Dr. Collins and his daughter, Katelyn Rodman, will lead participants in how to engage Scripture so that you can meet God, grow in your spiritual life, and be transformed in your daily walk as a believer in Christ.  We explore about why that happens and how that happens.  We then work through several practices that will help you to realize that type of engagement so that you will grow in your Christian faith.

IT – From Managing to Leading

This full day workshop is crafted for technical managers who must work increasingly with people across the ministry up to senior leadership and the board.  We will touch on many topics, including IT planning within the overall ministry, managing expectations, obtaining and providing clear direction, leading a team of people to become more technically proficient than the leader, delegation, balancing too many needs and desires with the resources at hand, identifying  priorities, communicating with upper, non-technical leadership, future professional development, collaborating with other ministries, and changing a culture from doing IT to getting IT done.

Upon registering for this workshop, you will be asked to consult with your ministry leaders concerning what they hope to gain from your organization’s IT leadership moving forward.  You will be requested to summarize your ministry leaders’ responses along with questions you wish to explore during the workshop to Mr. Hodge.  After you have registered for this workshop, the ICCM planning staff will contact you via email with additional information.
